Taking a screenshot on Windows is easy, and there are several methods to do it. Here are some of the most common and easy ways:

  1. Snipping Tool (Windows 7 and Windows 8.1):
    • Press the Windows key.
    • Type “Snipping Tool” and press Enter.
    • In the Snipping Tool window, click on “New.”
    • Use your mouse to select the area of the screen you want to capture.
    • Save the screenshot using the File menu.
  2. Snip & Sketch (Windows 10 and Windows 11):
    • Press Windows + Shift + S. This opens the Snip & Sketch tool.
    • Click and drag to select the area of the screen you want to capture.
    • The screenshot is automatically copied to your clipboard and can be pasted into an image editor or document.
  3. Print Screen (PrtScn) Key:
    • Press the PrtScn key on your keyboard. This captures the entire screen.
    • If you only want to capture the currently active window, press Alt + PrtScn.
    • The screenshot is copied to your clipboard and can be pasted into an image editor or document.
  4. Windows + Shift + S (Windows 10 and Windows 11):
    • Press Windows + Shift + S.

    • You can still use the Snipping Tool in Windows 10 and 11 by searching for it in the Start menu.

    • Press Windows + PrtScn to capture the entire screen.
    • The screenshot is automatically saved to your “Screenshots” folder in the “Pictures” library.
  7. Snip & Sketch (Windows + Shift + S) Shortcut (Windows 10 and Windows 11):
    • Press Windows + Shift + S to open Snip & Sketch and select the area you want to capture.
    • The screenshot can be edited and saved using the Snip & Sketch app.
  8. Game Bar (Windows + G) (Windows 10 and Windows 11):
    • Press Windows + G to open the Game Bar.
    • Click the camera icon to take a screenshot of your game or application.
